Product Review: Courise Color Gel Pens & Adult Coloring Book

So, I have a new favorite hobby: coloring! In case you missed it, there is a new trend the adult coloring book. First, let me clarify that by “adult” they mean very detailed patterns that are meant to entertain a more mature audience (think paisley elephant design), not to be confused with anything lude. It seemed a bit silly to me at first but once I gave it a try I found it to be so relaxing and really conducive to the creative vibe I’m trying to harness these days. I got so enveloped in it that my father-in-law startled me when he came outside to see what I was doing the other day!

One of my favorite extreme couponing sites, The Couponing Couple, recently advertised an Amazon sale for Courise 108 Unique Colors Gel Pens Gel Pens and I decided to snag them in addition to the Adult Coloring Book : Stress Relieving Designs . I have to say I instantly fell in love with both. The amazing color selection of the pens as well as the intricate and beautiful designs in the book was really enticing to me.

Here is my review of the products!

First, the gel pens are incredibly vibrant and come in matte colors, gloss colors and even glitter colors. It was a bit overwhelming at first trying to pick which color to use but in a fun way! It is fitting that they label them as pens because they really do look like regular ink pens. In fact, when I first saw them I thought they may not work for coloring books as described but they glide super smooth and the ink comes out like a marker. The pen shape really makes them perfect for the precise patterns and tight lines that you find in the adult coloring book.

Let’s get right down to what’s most important to gel pen users: do they bleed-through? I can’t say for certain if it was the pens or the paper, but there was no bleed through which I was shocked to see given how fluid the pens are! Really, very impressive!

I would have to say that my only con for the pens is that I used one to color a larger portion of the page and I ran out of ink. So perhaps, on my next attempt, I will choose more carefully so that I don’t run out of ink mid-page! However, I will say that for the price, that minor flaw would not deter me from purchasing them again.

As for the adult coloring book, I was equally impressed. The designs are absolutely beautiful! Wolves, Lions, Elephants, Owls, Flowers, and more, each with their own beautiful and intricate designs. The lines are completely mesmerizing. The paper is sturdy and stands up to layer after layer of gel color. I will definitely be collecting more of these. It is so relaxing and soothing to sit down and color for an hour or three! Granted, I don’t always have the time to color, but I try to sneak in a bit of time here and there to help me unwind in a healthy and safe way. Okay, maybe I include a glass of wine too occasionally!

Parents: this is a great way to spend time with your kids. They have their coloring books and crayons, you have your coloring book and pens! I may even consider sharing mine with my son but I’m currently hoarding them to myself!

Until next time my friends!
